Joyce Werwie Perry – Award Winning Pittsburgh artist

Joyce Werwie Perry is the owner of le Poire, a fine art studio and gallery located near the West End of Pittsburgh where she paints and teaches classes/workshops.  Joyce has won numerous awards in regional and national exhibitions, including the prestigious Westmoreland Museum of American Art Exhibition Award by Curator, Barb Jones which precipitated her solo exhibit entitled REMNANTS at the museum in the fall of 2010. Other juror’s awards have been given by such people as Douglas Fogle, Curator of Contemporary Art at Carnegie Museum of Art, Virginia Mecklenberg, Curator at The Smithsonian, Washington, D.C and Faith Ringgold , renowned international artist and Caldicott Award winner among others.

Her work has been shown at Carnegie Museum of Art, Andy Warhol Museum, The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Butler Museum of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, Avampato Discovery Museum in Charleston, West Virginia, The National Arts Club in New York City, Wichita Center for the Arts in Kansas, Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona, Duquesne University, Seton Hill University, Community College of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and is represented by Gallerie Chiz in Shadyside.

Joyce is a member and former Vice President /Exhibitions Co-Chair of The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and has over 150 works in private and public collections nationally. She also teaches her original knife technique at Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Touchstone Center for the Arts near Uniontown, PA. and holds workshops in the tri-state area.
