Study oil painting in brush and knife with award winning artist: Joyce Werwie Perry. Classes offered year round.

Classes are available for both beginners and experienced painters. Adult classes listed are limited to 8 students. Some flexibility applied to student’s class preference. Additional opportunities for adult students of le Poire include participation in an art exhibit at the gallery, field trips to local and regional museums, plein air painting, nude model sessions and painting retreats. Students may begin lessons in mid-session if there is a spot available. Call for details. Classes do not include materials. Materials list provided at sign up. These classes are for experienced and novice painters alike with instruction in both brush and knife according to the student’s own goals. Personal attention is given weekly from the instructor and the pace for completion of work is set by the student. For more information, click here.

Class dates to be announced 

Learn to draw the human form from a live model in timed exercises.  Various methods of drawing will be explored, including gesture drawings, contour and hatch drawings, eraser drawings, etc. with the use of charcoal, fine point marker, conte crayon and brush.  For more information, click here.




This class session lasts for 7 weeks – one class per week. Students have 

2 options per week to attend the class time that works for you. You can switch days as needed to insure you do not miss a class. Only materials needed are your usual paint supplies assigned for oil painting class.  If you do not take Joyce’s oil painting class, she will provide you with a list of colors needed.  Boards for exercises are provided.

This class is an extensive look at color theory based on the book “The Elements of Color” by Itten.  Students will have the opportunity to complete 5 projects over 7 weeks covering topics that include color accuracy, light/dark contrast, complimentary contrast, cool/warm contrast, saturation, etc.  There will be ongoIng discussions on how the importance of this major component of art is utilized for maximum benefit in painting through purpose and design.   Upon completion, students will have gained much knowledge of how to choose, mix, and manipulate color to greatly improve their paintings.  you can also register by emailing Joyce at jwerwiep@comcast.
