ADULT OIL PAINTING
These classes is for experienced and novice painters alike with instruction in both brush and knife according to the student’s own goals. Personal attention is given weekly from the instructor and the pace for completion of work is set by the student. Classes includes review of materials, assistance in drawing and selection of subjects, monthly demonstrations, color theory, group discussion on various art topics, critique and optional time exercises. The student is encouraged to find his/her personal style, explore new avenues of creativity and achieve a new level of expression.
Joyce’s own knife painting technique based on the generous applicaton of buttery oils and their manipulation through rapid addition and subtraction of oils with a variety of tools can also be a part of
your instruction. Demonstrations in knife application can be given along with instruction on basic color theory, contrast, rhythm and unity in painting. Previous experience in oils with brush is not a pre-requisite. Personal critique is given and individual expression is emphasized. There will be occasional timed exercises to challenge the student and encourage confidence and freedom in application.
