After I retired from teaching, I took a class on Van Gogh at Carnegie Museum. They provided the sunflowers and oils and I discovered the joy of painting. I joined the McMurray Art League and there I saw Joyce Werwie Perry demonstrating knife painting. I was hooked on the depth of color and texture she achieved and have been taking classes from her for the past 10 years. Joyce is an excellent teacher because of her knowledge and her ability to share it, her passion for painting, and her obvious joy in watching her students’ progress. I hate to miss a class because I enjoy them so.
As a result of what I have learned in Joyce’s classes, I have exhibited and sold my paintings at Le Poire, The Galleria, McMurray Art League studio, Art All Night, Elan Gallery, and Bottlebrush Gallery.
In addition to painting, I also enjoy traveling, boating and gardening. I tend to paint those things. Painting has certainly enriched my life.
