Are you looking for something different to add to your artistic talent routine? Please consider attending the upcoming workshop.  Joyce’s work is expressed through the use of oils with knives. Perry is best known for creating a palette-knife technique in which she rapidly applies and removes oil with knives. This technique allows a painter to work quickly and expressively, using obvious brush strokes to blend colors and create a thick and uneven surface. The technique was started to bring more immediacy to the work, and some emotion.

Conneaut Lake in November IIJoyce will share her award winning knife technique and help you to the next level of expression in your painting!  Learn how to observe your subjects in a new way and loosen up with texture, rhythm and movement as well as vivid harmonious color.  Using knives provided by the instructor ( at a small cost) learn how to manipulate paint by adding and subtracting, incising and transferring soft, buttery oils on the canvas.

The workshop begins with a brief lecture on the advantages of the technique and a look at examples of Joyce’s work. It continues with a 30-40 minute demonstration and personalized attention throughout the day as you paint an image of your choice or a still life image provided by Joyce. Students will be encouraged to complete their painting by the end of the workshop.
