FACES WORKSHOP

$25 required at registration to hold your place in class

Workshop begins with extensive lecture on drawing the face and all topics to be considered in regard to composition, expression, movement, contrast and color choices. Joyce will demonstrate drawing and paint application with knives. Time will be allowed for questions concerning issues in portrait painting. After lunch, personal attention will be given as each student works on a portrait of his/her choice. Discussion/review of work completed will finish the workshop.

Workshop begins with a lecture and extensive demonstration of Joyce’s knife technique. Students will then either be given a still life image or may bring own image to paint. Personal attention is given throughout the process. Students will be encouraged to complete their painting by the end of the workshop.

Workshop begins with a short lecture on the seven color contrasts utilized for successful painting, followed by exercises in color mixing referencing the color wheel and neutral greys achieved with gradations in complementary color bands.

It continues with a group discussion on student’s individual image selections for paintings and how they may be approached for desired maximum effect in relation to color, contrast, temperature and atmosphere.
