This piece of artwork was unframed and in a dirty plastic bag when I found him in an estate sale somewhere in Nebraska. The house was packed and he was sitting in a box with hundreds of postcard and greeting cards. It somehow stuck out and on first glance I thought it was just a very well done woodblock. It is signed and has the information translated on the original mat that store will stay with the art in a pocket on the back. I framed this piece with two specialty textured matting with Silver Foil French Lines and a with a lift between the mats and floated above the artwork to give it breathing room. I finished it out with a matte white outter frame to compliment the winter scene and because I had 4 pieces of moulding just the right size. It was a project that just came together easily and it was nice to have a piece without much damage to work with. I also think it can fit into almost any decor as a complimentary piece or a conversation starter. Honestly its a pleasure to explore its landscape and understanding the process of hand coloring woodblock printing allows me to appreciate it that much more. It will be finished out with Conservation clear glass with 99% UV protection and ready to hang on the wall.
Thanks again for looking,
