French Antiques - French Enamelware Allumettes Box to hold store your matches close to the fireplace. A very dramatic red/orange color with a blue label. The container has a ribbed design in a diagonal pattern. These were common in every home before heaters. Bright shiny white enamel on the inside, back and bottom.

The strike plate is on top of the lid.

Measures approx 6" wide by 6" tall at the tallest part by 3" deep.

Notice the loss of enamel around the ring for hanging and on the lid, and the corners. The lid still hinges properly.
