Chinese Red Lacquer Box, Antique Chinese store Wood Box, Segmented Chinese Box

A very interesting Chinese box which has been made from wood and then lacquered. This box has been carefully constructed from pieces of wood which have been fitted together like segments of an orange and then held in place by a wire store at the top and a wire at the bottom. Then when the box was lacquered, creating a final way to seal the box together. The handle is carved from one piece of wood or bamboo and the lid is notched out to fit around the handle. In overall good condition. Measures 17 x 9.5 x 9.5 inches.
