Product code: Vintage Hermann Original Teddy Bear store Plush
Most likely from the 1970s when I was a kid. My German grandmother went home to a small village near Bamberg every summer and brought back toys and stuffed animals (see my other post for the Hermann Originals black cat) The bear has the original metal button hanging on a red string stating "Hermann Teddy Original". It is fully jointed and about 12” high. It has the open mouth. The company was established by Bernhard Hermannn in 1912 in Sonneberg, a German town in Thuringia. It was named after founder's initials "BE HA". Soon started production of teddy bears and dolls. After Sonneberg became a part of East Germany, the business was moved to Hirschaid near Bamberg. The company name was changed to Teddy-Plüschspielwarenfabrik Gebr. Hermann KG. Three store sons of Bernhard Hermannn became partners in the company. The fur is a little flattened on backside; paws are not torn or ripped, but show signs of age with discolorations/stains I believe it's mohair?.
