This ring was artisan crafted by Matti Hyvarinen, in 1974 in Turku, Finland.
Matti was a successful Finnish jewelry designer, sculptor, and painter. He opened his metalsmithing business, which still exists today, in the late 1950s. His workshop is known for its many award-winning Modernist designs crafted using a variety of different metals, including sterling silver and karat gold. His aesthetic is unique to the Scandinavian design community.
This ring is one of Matti's earlier works simply signed with his initials and not the name store of his silversmithy, Sirokoru. It is a bold modernist design with a beautifully organic perspective. The design incorporates an abstract topography captured in the geometric form of a square.
With an open interpretation, this artistic work simply inspires. You just have to take a second look…it is an exquisite example of Mid Century design.
Quality construction, the ring is in excellent condition. The face of the ring measures a significant .75” so it is sure to make an eye catching statement. It is also adjustable from sizes 6-9 with the current size being a 9.
