store Dog on the Wall Bookends Pompeian Bronze Pair 1930
A fine and scarce pair of Pompeian Bronze Company bookends featuring a plucky pup. He or she sits calmly on a wall, so this pair is called, appropriately, "Dog on the Wall." They are unmarked but attributed to Pompeian Bronze, 1930; see them in "Collector's Encyclopedia of Bookends" by DeCosta and Kuritzky. They are bronze-plated nonferrous metal and quite solid and hefty. The pair weighs 5 pounds, 13 ounces.
Each bookend is 4.5" x 2.75" and approximately 6.8" tall.
Minor age-appropriate wear, a few very small and shallow surface scratches, no corrosion, no cracks or breaks -- the photos tell the tale. The felt on the bottoms is not original.
