This is a vintage necklace that has a voice.
And, that voice store is loud and pleasing, yet easy on the ears. That voice is a whisper at the same time as it's a whistle.
The voice unmistakably says, "Look at me!"
And, oh ... you will!
What always confounds me is the idea people have that these kinds of big, statement-making pieces need to be worn with ball gowns, wedding dresses and all formal attire. These beatific pieces absolutely look sensational with formal wear, but they are killer with a simple business suit and OUT OF THIS WORLD with jeans and a tee or a crisp white shirt.
Jewelry, particularly vintage jewelry, is FUN! It's a way to be creative even if you don't work in a particularly creative environment. It's a road to personal style that shows a little bit more of who you are.
These necklaces are for ANY occasion, and this one, in particular, is a real doozie! Magnificent and totally unique, this superb, ONE OF A KIND vintage NECKLACE is most certainly what is massively in style today, but then it was massively in style in the early 20th century as well. In fact, I doubt its ever gone OUT of style because it is a classic.
This fabulous piece represents the happy collision of the always lauded Czech 1930's handmade art glass with a drop dead gorgeous American-made 1940's blue rhinestone starburst belle. Combining shapes, sizes and pieces that might not normally be combined, this piece stands as a testament to originality and the essence of style.
A breathtaking example of its breed, this beauty's exquisite rosary chain is made of up exceptionally beautiful small Czech semi translucent pale blue art glass which is wire-wrapped on superbly crafted STERLING SILVER.
The rosary chain measures 32" (a 16" drop). With the addition of the large, rectangular SILVER PLATE drop (this, adorned with the fabulous starburst embellishment), a carved pinch bail and a sterling silver and lampwork bead drop, another 4 1/2" are added to this comely lass.
The rectangular SILVER PLATE pierced, broadly filigreed main pendant is a triumph in itself. With thick edges sporting rounded, soft corners and amazing filigree work under the starburst, this lovely lady measures 3" from side to side, and 2 1/8" up and down.
On top of this gorgeous stamping, filling it to the brim with color and light and sparkle, is an amazing silver plate piece of what I consider to absolutely be "art."
A huge flower to some, an enormous starburst to others, and, to all who see it, an explosion of color and light, form and fancy, this amazing piece has thinner oblong "leaves" or "explosions" from the starburst. They come to delicate and enticing points and, in some cases, extend beyond the borders of the filigree piece.
Multi-dimensional, stacked and layered expertly, this spectacular beauty is glutted with ALL PRONG-SET and massively brilliant, deeply faceted and superbly matching baby blue rhinestones which are Austrian crystal rhinestones, the best you can find, and, most certainly, in the 1940's when this was likely made, the finest and most expensive in the world.
All rhinestones are original to this piece. No rhinestones are dead, dying, missing, cloudy, yellow, gray or dull. They have a marvelous sparkle, and because they are layered so masterfully, with larger stones interspersed and domed, the overall effect is like what one experiences if they look up at a mesmerizing, glittering chandelier.
From the bottom of this glorious piece drops an etched sterling silver pinch bail, which joins a rope-twisted sterling jump ring, which then embraces the final piece: a lampwork bead that has, on its top, a pale blue rhinestone, etched sterling silver saucer-shaped piece, another rhinestone and a sterling bead cap.
The lampwork bead is handmade, oblong and gorgeous, filled with silver, gold and blue foil.
Glorious!
You won't see another like this. Ever.
This lovely SAUTOIR/flapper vintage piece slips over the head with ease.
Intricately crafted, visually alluring, magnificently detailed, this marvelous rosary chain antique necklace is made ENTIRELY of Czech components from the 1930's and an American-made (in point of fact, an unsigned, but verified, as by Albert J. Weiss) piece from the 1940's. It has been fiercely and passionately re-imagined.
