This is a super stylish Art Deco period floor standing ash tray dating to the early 1950s.

Made from cast aluminium & steel with a heavy chrome plate finish, it has a reeded stepped base, four panel fluted column & a trumpet capital with a six cigar or cigarette rest which also functions as a handle.

A lovely piece of design, the base tray is easily removable for emptying & cleaning.

It was acquired some years ago from the Estate of a closed Gentleman's Barbers Shop, a haven of sports, motoring & other "Men's stuff".
Ladies were frowned upon (as customers!) & the shop was the subject of some contention with the Feminist Movement in the 1970s, culminating in a broken front window!

The piece is in exceptional vintage condition with just a few small surface marks & a little pinking to the chrome as shown.
It is in its original lightly cleaned but unrestored state, so please have a good look at all the photos. Sold as seen.

Cast marks for Made in England by 'Ianthe'. Registered Design numbers 882882, 879874 & 886589. Patents 900307, 801601 & 815789.

About 36.5cm tall x 16cm base diameter (14.25” x 6.25” nominal). The ash tray is 12.5cm with a 2cm tube in the column. 1kg weight.

A rare & lovely piece of Art store Deco or Mid Century Modern Decor & still perfectly usable for your Man Cave, Shave Den or Garden Room.
