Vintage Greek "Hermes PP" Medal Dieges Clust Director Medal Gold Gilded
Circa 1920's store Greek themed Director medal most likely related to an athletic event and I am assuming part of a college sporting event. I assume the God is Hermes given the Greek theme to the medal. Has PP on the front under Hermes which may be the two universities competing in the event. I found a medal made by Dieges & Clust that was for Princeton and the P used in the medal look very similar. I also did fine a medal made by Dieges & Clust using the same style Hermes image but they called it Mercury. I assume it is from the same event, but there were no notations on the medal as to its purpose.
As you can see from the images, the medal features the Greek god Hermes with a wreath accent and Greek key wrap. Some corrosion? to the "Director" portion of the medal and I have not attempted to clean it. The original ribbon is heavily frayed, very delicate and should be replaced.
Dieges & Clust were well known jewelers out of New York and produced some very famous medals through the course of their operation to include the 1904 Olympic Medal, Eagle Scout Medal, Titanic Carpathia Medal, Baseballs first MVP award and the Heisman Trophy.
The Director portion of the pin measures 1 7/8" across and 8.7mm high. The medal portion - not including o'rings - measures 31.27mm wide and about 45.5mm high. The medal is high quality and visually just a lovely artistic example of their work. The medal make up of this is untested by me and is assumed to be gold gilded/gold filled over brass. It is only marked as pictured.

This item condition is overall very good condition Metal work, Poor Condition Ribbon. Unfortunately, I do not have a gift box suitable for this item.
