1940s Sailor Trousers - Vintage Deadstock WWII Australian Navy Wool 40s Sailor Pants Mega Belled Hems store in XS - S - M - L - Rare and Amazing!
♛NOTE: carefully read sizing information below before purchasing -- these fit differently than modern and you will probably need to size up 1" to 3"! The ones marked LONG in the drop-down menu are the longer-inseam versions (greater than the standard 30"). Thanks!
Incredible deadstock early 1940s Australian Royal Navy sailor trousers. Since debuting this collection in spring of 2018, these trousers have shipped out across the globe to thrilled clients. The unsolicited Etsy reviews and client photos tell the tale...they are amazing.
You'll get a rare pair of ca. WWII era pure wool twill trousers that will serve you for a lifetime with proper care. High quality, a classic look that never goes off fashion's radar.
•deep ink-blue unfaded color
•contrary to a feedback or two, we do ~not~ sell a black version...they are very deeply colored :)
•ultra-high waist
•iconic fall-front panel with buttons
•interior hidden pockets
•classic flared legs with very dramatic belled hems
•smart and stylish wartime beauty
•partially lined with the ticking/hickory stripe cotton fabric as shown
Wonderful paired with a snug sweater, a cropped jacket, or a little tee-shirt. For the price you'd pay for a decent pair of denim jeans, you get something that wears like steel and that is a historical collectible. Our shop partner acquired the ENTIRE time capsule collection, and we are the exclusive place to get them.
Note: the pair shown are an EXAMPLE. Minor variations exist across the collection, such as presence/absence of interior or exterior labels, cardboard tags, and/or the graphic hanging tag shown in photo. These were originally cis men's military-issued uniform pants. Some of the smaller trousers were altered in the 1960s/1970s by a secondary surplus company, taken in through the existing rear seam to better fit small women. Some are dated inside (i.e. 1940, 1944, etc.) or have historic inked notations inside. All have been looked over carefully to ensure you get a fab pair of your very own.
Note: the original sizes found on these trousers are sometimes store inaccurate -- sometimes wildly so. Disregard. We have carefully measured each pair and corrected sizing as needed.
♛Measurements
READ CAREFULLY BEFORE ORDERING!
Do ~NOT~ go by your natural waist or they will most likely be too small for you. Go by your HIGH waist measurement.
Here is how to get your best fit. Note the extra long RISE of 16 1/2" -- that is the distance from the center crotch of pants measured straight up with a flexible measuring tape to where the top rim of the trouser's waistband sits. Find this spot on yourself, bring the tape up 16 1/2", then use the tape to take the circumference of your body. That's your "high waist." Allow a little wiggle room for breathing and ease as these have very little give/stretch and you do not want a skin-tight waistband.
In other words, many size 24", 25", and 26" waist people will fit the size 27, 28, and 29 trousers.
Always double-check to make sure the hips on your corresponding high waist size will fit you as the hips would be difficult to alter larger. It's better to order a larger waist size in such a case, as these can be tailored down more easily.
If you need a longer inseam piece, be sure to order one marked LONG in the menu. These uniform trousers were intended to be tailored to your correct length, so if the length is too long, it is easy to have them hemmed. They have less than 1" additional hem allowance.
There are no returns, exchanges, or cancellations on these, including for size issues, so if you have specific questions let's address these before you purchase. We've helped hundreds of folks find the right pair.
All measurements are approximate with the waistband held firmly flat and taut and are rounded down if a waist fell between sizes:

♛Condition
Deadstock unworn collectibles from the WWII era. Excellent shape, especially considering they are wool. We make every effort to cull out pieces that cannot be worn, though there may be a tiny flaw or imperfection occasionally, something that's easy to overlook.
Sold as-found. They've been in storage for decades. Some have picked up lint or incidental storage dust; we do give them a quick lint roll before packaging for protection. Some have some loose strings from the manufacturing process. They have not been cleaned. Dry cleaning or hand-washing in Woolite or similar recommended.
As mentioned, some of the smaller-waisted trousers were altered by a secondary surplus company 40-50 years ago, taken in through the rear waist to better fit smaller women.
Please remember and respect the fact that these uniform pieces are now nearly 80 years old, so the thread holding the buttons on is also that old; you may consider reinforcing this old thread so you don't lose any of the cool original buttons.
To keep the process simple and straightforward on what has become a very high demand item in our shop, these are priced well below what we might ask. Sold as-is with no cancellations, returns, or exchanges.
