Global New Normal Tempestries are a visual representation of global annual deviations-from-average temperature spanning 1880 – 2018, and were inspired by Professor Ed Hawkins' Warming Stripes climate data visualization work.

Kits include Knit or Crochet guidelines, worksheet, color card, and individually-wound balls of yarn calculated to match the number of years needed for each color. You can choose to add 20 hang tags to mark historical events, or you can choose to make it a Deluxe Knit Kit which includes 20 tags, knitting needles, tapestry needles for weaving in the ends, and a Standard Needle Wrangler.

We offer two different sizes, Wall Hanging or Scarf. The finished knitted Wall Hanging measures approximately 8″ by 32″, and finished knitted scarf measures approximately 6″ by 64.” Crocheted pieces will be a bit bigger.

Our worksheet uses data from NASAGISS with a baseline averaged from 1950-1980. The darker blues in the older years show cooler global averages, and the warmer colors in more recent years show warmer global averages. The trajectory is painfully obvious.
