Vintage mid century wall hanging Federal Style 13 Colony convex port hole eagle mirror aka 'butler' mirror or 'witch eye' mirror. Ornate edge design. The 13 balls around the porthole represent the original 13 founding colonies of our country. It is Syrocowood and gold gilt in color made by Syracuse Ornamental Co. Inc., Syroco Wood, Syracuse N.Y.. It has the original Syroco Wood sticker, Syracuse pattern # and stamp on the back. This eagle mirror is in very good condition. A few tiny scuffs to the front and light scratches on the rear. The gilt has some bronzing effects to give it an aged effect. The rear has a missing screw where a hanger once attached and could possibly be replaced. No cracks/repairs/chips. The convex (bubble) mirror is perfect. No ghosting or silver loss. Beautiful eye catching mirror. Measures 20 3/4" T x 14 1/2" W x 1 3/8" D. Weight 4 lbs. 9 oz. (bx23x17x4) Syroco wood pulp was store pressed into compression molds, which would resemble carved wood.
