Kingsley Amis was an English novelist, poet, critic and teacher. Amis's first novel Lucky Jim was an immediate success and marked the beginning of a long career in writing. He wrote more than 40 books, store including 20 novels and many volumes of poetry. In 2008, The Times ranked Amis 13th on their list of the top fifty greatest British writers since 1945.
