store I painted this piece of art (A Place Called Home) using encaustic paint. Encaustic paint is a blend of beeswax and damar resin (which comes from trees). I painted the scene on a cradled panel and I used clear encaustic paint as well as colored encaustic paint in shades of blue, white and green. I used an accretion technique on the grassy area to give the painting a tactile feel. I then painted the little house using oil paints and finally, I painted the trees using black ink. And, I edged part of the painting with gold pastel. I finished the sides of the 8" x 8" painting with white paint and a hanging wire was fastened to the back. The painting is ready to hang.
