Brush + Ink Fashion store Illustration - Salzbourg Ball Gown by Christian Dior [1956 Aimant Line]
store An original illustration (not a reproduction) from my exhibition “Christian Dior 1947-1957” held at Cafe Corryong Brew in October 2019.
This is an A3 sized work, ink on acid free paper (297 x 420mm).
The frame is handcrafted and made from recycled timber.
The ballgown illustrated is from Dior's Autumn-Winter 1956 collection, titled the “Aimant Line”. A 1997 exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, simply titled “Christian Dior”, was the starting inspiration for my drawings, and the accompanying catalogue provided essential reference material. By investigating the silhouette that Dior ushered in with his Autumn-Winter haute couture collection of 1947, my illustrations look at the ways that Dior manipulated the female form.
