Vintage, Bing & Grondahl, Porcelain, St. Bernard, Puppy store Figurine, Denmark, c. 1940

Just a charmer! Bing & Grondahl's St. Bernard, porcelain puppy from Copenhagen, Denmark. This sitting puppy, with its longing expression, measures approximately 4.75" tall, is well glazed and sees no rubs, wear or crazing.

Nicely, it bears the green, three tower mark and the blue B & G stamp, which appears to date its manufacturing to before 1947.

Although difficult to date exactly (like figurines have been dated at 1930s, 60s and 70s), this is interesting reading:

From dphtrading.com: "Until 1898, the Bing & Grondahl brand simply consisted of B&G stamped in blue. Bing & Grondahl then chose the three towers as its factory brand. The three towers are from the coat of arms of Copenhagen, showing the three towers of the castle of Absalon. The three towers have always been stamped in green. However, they continued to stamp with B&G in blue up to and including 1947." store This site puts the manufacturing of this lovely pup to between 1915 and 1947.

However old she may be, she would nonetheless be a sweet and fine addition to any porcelain collection. Enjoy!
