"Captain Jake's Amity Boat Tours" Marquee
This is an etched and laser cut sign. It is designed after the marquee from the now defunct Jaws the Ride attraction at Universal Studios Florida
In the ride, the 'real' town of Amity Island has decided to capitalize off of the success of the Jaws film, and its dramatization of the real events experienced on Amity Island in 1974. One of the business, Amity Boat Tours, owned and operated by Captain Jake, offers to take guests on a tour of the island to show off the sites of the real shark attacks from 1974, as well as the filming locations from the block buster Steven Spielberg film which followed. Of course, nothing is truly safe, as guests find themselves being pursued by a monster great white shark.
Mounted above the main entrance to the ride was a larger version of this marquee. Jaws the ride operated on and off from 1990 till 2012. It was one of Universal Studios Florida most revered and memorable attractions. I created this sign to memorialize it, and provide a piece of theme park history and memorabilia to the guests who braved the waters of Amity Island at least once in their life.
This sign is store made from 4 layers of 3mm birch project plywood. It is designed, cut, assembled, and hand stained by me.
It is a great collectible for all fans of Jaws the ride, Jaws the movie, and theme parks in general. It is a great nostalgic conversation starter with any company one might have in their home.
"Amity 6 to base. Amity 3 is sinking out by the light house, and I don't see any survivors. I don't know what could have done this except, a shark..."
