Fukuro obi, woven in pattern of round stylized Kiri (Paulownia) flowers with 3 and 4-leaves design encircled by metallic gold rings. The flowers are red and metallic silver. Circles are joined by metallic gold zigzags. All on black silk background. Patterned side has a 33cm (13") section of pattern, 135cm (53") plain black, and 240cm (95"). The back side is plain black silk.
Can store be worn as an obi, draped over a table as an elegant table runner, or hung on a wall as a work of art.
Kiri drawn in a 5 and seven leaf design is the official symbol of the Office of the Prime Minister of Japan.
This formal fukuro obi is patterned on one side and partially lined with plain silk on the other. When tied, the plain cloth is not seen.
Excellent vintage condition.
