THE BOBBSEY TWINS AT THE SEASHORE by Laura Lee Hope (1907, Grosset & Dunlap, New York). FIRST EDITION.

Light green cloth over boards with vintage full-color painting pasted down on cover. Cloth. Condition: Fair. 211 pp., + 1 blank; + 8 pp. ads. Publisher's origional light brown cloth with color pictorial pastedown on the cover, lettering in black. Some discoloration and fraying on top and bottom of the spine and corners.
Inside are b/w illustrations by Australian-born Charles Nuttall who moved to the US in 1905, joined the staff of the New York Herald, and contributed to Life, The Century, Harper's, and other periodicals, as well as producing book illustrations. Nuttall, who was color blind, specialized in black store and white, guache and monochrome work.

Laura Lee Hope was the pen name for a multitude of authors who wrote the long-running Bobbsey Twins series. This is the third in the series and rare to find in such fine condition. Binding is intact and all pages are tight and clean, with the exception of the illustration facing p. 192 (detached). Previous owners are stamped and/or pasted in neatly on inside front cover.
