This is a complete vintage 1940's set of all twelve months of the '12 Months of Flowers' botanical illustrations that were originally created by Robert Furber in 1730 as a groundbreaking flower seed catalog...please see more below...

These prints are in very good condition. The edges may be lightly tanned. (Please by with confidence! I only buy/sell what I adore.) They are printed on cream/off-white paper stock with no gloss. These prints are sold unframed so you can frame them to suit your own tastes and décor. You will receive the all twelve (12) prints from the 1940s book, one for each month, not copies of the prints, nor the original illustrations from the 1700s.

History: In 1730, Robert store Furber, a London gardener/nurseryman, employed the artistic talents of painter Pieter Casteels and engraver Henry Fletcher to create a catalog to sell flower seeds to his customers. The catalog featured detailed illustrations of grand flower arrangements in neoclassical urns grouped by the months in which they bloomed. Furber's works were so successful that they have been copied by other artists and continue to be popular today, almost 300 years later. (A link to the individual monthly flower prints is below.)
