VTG to Antique Brass Parrot Cockatoo store Bird Dish, Wall Mounting Brass Parrot Cockatoo Encased in Wood, Art Deco Brass Parrot Bird

This is such a unique find! Someone very skillfully carved out a beautifully grained old block of wood to encase perfectly a brass parrot cockatoo dish.

From an online search, I was able to find what looks like the exact brass parrot dish/ashtray. Some listings described it as "vintage" while others described it as "antique" (dating from the late store 1800s to the early 1920s/30s).

I suspect based on the photos of other listings that it's marked "ENGLAND" on the bottom but am not able to verify that as it is glued into the wood block.

The sturdy brass hook at the top for hanging has darkened over time and the patina of the wood makes me think that this is an old piece - not just the brass parrot but also the wood block.

Someone loved this parrot dish and thought it special enough to want to encase it so that it could be displayed on a wall.

The back is covered in a red felt-like material.

This is a heavy piece weighing 1 pound 2 ounces.
