Merino Crushed Cloche store Hat

So soft, so versatile...this '40s style crushed cloche has so many beautiful looks. It's made of merino wool fiber and sari silk in the wet felt, Nuno style of hat making. Merino wool is so soft and pliable, that you can actually make subtle adjustments to the little tucks anywhere on the hat. Simply take a steam iron and re-stylize at your heart's content. Merino is also hypoallergenic and water-resistant. Caught in a sudden rain shower...no problem. Let the hat dry at room temperature and you are ready to step out once again. Oops, a splash from the street?! Simply make a cold bathwater with mild dish detergent (I recommend Dawn). A half teaspoon should be enough, but add more if needed. Let the hat soak for 30 minutes, rinse thoroughly, Re-shape and store allow to dry. The colors are a light creamy gray with a charcoal grey Sari Silk embellishment. All of my hats are completely handmade. I start with raw fiber and "mold" them into a hat through a series of procedures. I often take the fiber directly from the animal, clean, dye, and "mold". It is not a "labor" but is done with love. Each hat is unique. I have only so much control over how the final product will settle.
