The first Campo del Cielo specimen was reported in 1576 and the impact that originated store these meteorites is estimated to have happened 4,000 to 6,000 years ago.

A Campo del Cielo is an iron-nickel meteorite belonging to the main group (MG) of the I-AB complex.

It's composed of nickel iron but includes a few sulfides, carbides, and phosphides as well as silicate inclusions.
