This is a First Edition 1942 cookbook, one of the cleanest vintage cookbooks I've found from this era, covering a wide variety of general cooking methods, foods & recipes titled Woman's Home Companion Cook Book . This book was the "go to" cookbook for housewives during the war years, with everything they needed in the kitchen, step by step illustrated directions for new preparation methods, nutritional information, table setting & decorating, and over 30 pages of recipes & directions for canning fruits & vegetables from their victory gardens. Hundreds of store recipes. A few clippings tucked in as page markers. PAGES: 952 VINTAGE: 1942 1st edition, 1st printing CONDITION: The edges and corners show a tiny bit of wear, with tape at the bottom of the spine (not sure if it is a repair or is just stuck on there). The front board papers are split at the spine, back board has tape where something may have been removed after being taped in for years. Pages have darkened slightly, see photos.
