Each earring has 5mm faceted round genuine black onyx beads and 2 rhodium plated round crystal drops by Swarovski suspended on sterling silver head pins from a round sterling silver drop setting. Swarovski has discontinued these crystal drops thus they are very rare. The leverback ear wires are sterling silver plated and very sturdy.
Disclosure The leverback ear wires and sterling silver drop settings are not my design. I placed the black onyx beads and Swarovski drops onto head pins and attached to the drop settings by hand.
Length at longest drop: 2 inches.
According to the IGS, black onyx is a grey chalcedony gemstone that has been chemically treated to create a rich back color. It was once symbolically associated with bad luck. In modern times, it is thought to have protective and healing energies. It is the alternative birthstone for July.
