Vintage Funeral Cross. 8" Bakelite and Rhinestones Crucifix. Undertaker Advertising & Deceased Info Inscribed. 1938. Original store Box.
Vintage Funeral Cross. 8" store Bakelite and Rhinestones Crucifix. Funeral Home Advertising & Deceased Person Info Inscribed on the Back. 1938.
SIZE: Measures 8" tall by about 5" wide.
DETAILS:
We have had a lot of these, but never an inscribed one. This is such a great and unusual find, as it is an advertisement for the "Undertaker" (William M Kompf) and also has the name of the deceased inscribed into the bakelite. "Died April 4, 1938. Ella Tyler Aged 71".
CONDITION:
Was found stored for decades in original box. While the box is not fancy, the condition of the cross is excellent. NO cracks, no crazing, no chips. All stones are present and original and bright. Has a brass bracket attached for hanging on a wall.
COLOR: Dark golden bakelite swirled with translucent yellow, amber and mustard colored bakelite makes for a lovely piece.
CRUCIFIX:
Jesus Christ on traditional Roman Catholic crucifix. Jesus is attached with one screw on the back. His hands and feet are attached with 2 tacks .It has the INRI plaque, of course. This is in brass, as is the Jesus figure.
