Set of 4 - Bing & Grøndahl - Butterfly Boullion store Soup Bowl / Cup - Handpainted Danish Mid Century Porcelain

These amazing Blue Fluted Boullion soup bowls goes under the name "Sommerfugl" which translates to summerbird, meaning butterfly in english. It features blue leaves and a flower on each side, handpainted on the beautiful high quality porcelain. The pattern on these pieces, is very elegant and classic, and known as "Musselmalet" in Denmark.

The 4 bowls were made by Bing & Grøndahl in 1945, 1947, 1961 and 1971, marked by the numbers on the bottom.

Bing & Grøndahl was founded in Denmark in 1853 by Frederik Wilhelm Grøndahl and and brothers Meyer and Jacob Hermann Bing. It's well-known logo are the three towers showing the Coat of Arms of Copenhagen. Bing & Grøndahl's main competitor was the Royal Porcelain Factory, in which they merged with in 1987, creating the name Royal Copenhagen.
