Holt Howard Norcrest Vintage Christmas Angel Candleclimbers Candleholder Set store MCM retro midcentury
The flying angels are Norcrest candle climbers, but the ecru candleholders with spaghetti trim accents are by Holt Howard. Didn't come together, but I store thought these candleclimbers really needed to be on candles to show them off properly...After all, the Angels are flying :-) And I think these candleholders just seem to go with these angels.
The Norcrest angels are holding a bell and have their toes kicked up in the air. Fabulous detail… You can even see their fingers and toes. Their wings, robes and bells all have gold accents. Their expressions are priceless, kind of a “I hope I'm doing this right” look. The angels are also nice and stable when displayed as figurines so you have options for display.
The Holt Howard candleholders are classic ecru with spaghetti trim flowers. The spaghetti trim is tipped in gold and the bottom edge and candle opening both have a band of gold. Not all of Holt Howard's classic ecru candleholders have these gold bands—I think it takes them up a notch, A little more sparkle and presents. I also noted that there is a bit more gold on the spaghetti trim then on the candleholders that do not have gold bands. I think among this classic candleholder produced by a Holt Howard, These were among the first. My guess is that to save and manufacturing costs later on they did not put as much time and material into them.
The angels have no chips cracks repairs or paint loss. One of the candleholders has a small chip on the bottom and there are also a few rubs on the bottom. Both of the candleclimbers have the Norcrest seal; one of the candleholders has the Holt Howard seal; the other has only a vestige. They also have a few spots of darkening and a little bit of wax in a few of the spaghetti trim flowers and inside the ooenings for candles.
The angels are about 2 1/2 inches high; the candleholders are 3 1/2 inches in diameter and about 1 1/4” tall.
