Rhodochrosite Ring in Sterling Silver store - Crown Bezel Cabochon Ring

Rhodochrosite ring in sterling silver. The pink rhodochrosite cabochon is 10mm round and quite beautiful; there is one line across the top of the stone with some green polishing compound remaining in it. The gem rests in a crown-like bezel of elaborate gallery wire set on a gently tapering half-round band. The design is feminine but sturdy. This however is a "delicate wear only" ring due to the fragility of rhodochrosite.

I bought this cabochon in a little rock shop in Windhoek, Namibia during my gem buying trip there. The shop stocked a variety of local materials and a handful of things from other countries acquired in trade. I rather doubt it was mined in Namibia; I suspect it came from the neighboring South Africa. It was the only one they had.

Rhodochrosite is a beautiful but remarkable soft and brittle gem found in several small deposits around the world including the United States. Take good care of this ring, wear it gently, don't ultrasonic or steam clean. It can't take smacking around or the stone will fracture.

These sterling silver cast rings are my most affordable thanks to reduced labor; however there are limitations on stone size, shape, and ring size as they are standardized. In order to keep prices and order turnaround times on these reasonable, I don't offer in-house resizing.
