store This antique Chinese box appears to be paper mache. It appears that lacquer was then applied and the pattern has been incised by hand. All parts of this box and lid have been hand made. The box is very light weighing only 6 ounces. The color is a rich chocolate brown with black bands at top and bottom. The inside is black. It has some chips that would be appropriate wear for the box. The box was made to be used to hold tea or medicines. It measures 5 inches tall and 3 inches across the top. the center is about 4 inches across. There is a paper label on the bottom.
