A GLASS Sponge store -- Made out of GLASS: Presented here on a elegant dish. Along with its own symbiotic shrimp living inside.
Use it as a soap dish. Use it to hold loose change. Use it to hold a sponge (a "Sponge" on a "sponges"). Or display it on a wall or on a shelf.

4" x 8". Made out of glass: cut, shaped, layered and fused in a kiln.

The Venus' flower basket (Euplectella aspergillum) is a hexactinellid sponge in the phylum Porifera inhabiting the deep ocean. . The body is tubular, curved and basket-like and made up of triaxon spicules. The body is perforated by numerous apertures, which are not true ostia but simply parietal gaps. The body is composed entirely of silica -- thus making this a Glass Sponge made out of glass.

The sponge often symbiotically houses l spongicolid shrimp who live out their lives inside the sponge. The shrimp breed, and when their offspring are tiny, they escape to find a new Venus' flower basket of their own. The shrimp inside the basket clean it and, in return, the basket provides food for the shrimp by trapping it in its tissues and then releasing wastes into the body of the sponge for the shrimp.
