These high-quality, rustic hardwood timber-frame pegs are manufactured in the USA out of North American kiln-dried White Oak lumber. They are not coated with anything, just the natural wood that is sanded which results in a light color.*
White Oak is an excellent choice for timber frame pegs because of its great exterior weatherability, similar to locust.
The high density of the wood makes it strong and quite capable when used in building houses or cabins/lodges, barns, gristmills, etc.
Since White Oak is a closed-grain hardwood, it naturally repels water which makes it highly water and rot-resistant compared to Red Oak which is an open-grain hardwood and performs better indoors in furniture, cabinetry, and mouldings.
The standard size is: 31/32” dia. (+/- 1/64”; to fit in a 1” hole) x 12” long. NOTE: If using a WoodOwl bit, these pegs might not fit as tight as they usually would when using a regular drill bit.
The standard ends are tapered store and flat as shown. The taper is approx. 1-1/4” long and the diameter of the point is approx. 5/8”.

*they appear darker and more golden because of photo editing to enhance the wood-grain.
