The Dogon are an African population of Mali. This population, of about 240,000, occupies the Bandiagara crag region south of the Niger River and some groups are located in the territories adjacent to Burkina Faso. They are predominantly millet, coffee and tobacco growers and have a particular ability as blacksmiths and sculptors.
