Our store deals exclusively with vintage and antique jewelry, collectibles, sterling ware, and other fine items. Our offerings are often in stellar condition, but these pieces are NOT new and may have flaws, imperfections, and/or patina which are consistent with age. We try to list these as accurately as possible in descriptions and/or photographs, so please take the time to view each listing carefully, and in its entirety.

OFFERS: Most offerings are priced very competitively and are often below what others charge for the same item. Due to this, our stated prices are firm, and discounted (lowball) counter-offers will not be accepted.
LAYAWAY POLICY: We will gladly work with you to do an interest-free layaway plan on orders. A nonrefundable down payment of 20% of your total order is required hold your item(s), and you will have up to two (2) months to pay the remaining 80% of your purchase. At the time the layaway is redeemed, you will still have to pay shipping (if applicable), as well as customs charges through your country's postal carrier (if you are purchasing from outside of the United States). Items not redeemed within the 2-month time period will be returned to stock, with no refund of deposit.
CLEANING/POLISHING/RESTORATION: ALL items are meticulously cleaned in an appropriate sanitizing manner that preserves AND oftentimes enhances the item to almost-new condition prior to shipping. Precious metals and genuine gemstones are cleaned with filtered water, and polished with either a Sunshine cloth or a silver polishing cloth. Rhinestones are cleaned with a soft brush and dry, soft cloth only, as moisture can damage these delicate items. While all items have some age to them, you will open the box and be greeted with an item that is sparkling, well-polished, and ready to wear.
TESTING: Fine jewelry – precious metals such as gold or silver, and/or precious/semi-precious stones – are tested using a scratch taken by rubbing an inconspicuous part of the item on an unglazed tile, with the test acid applied to the scratch on the tile – the test site on the item is then polished to restore luster. We NEVER put testing acids on the item itself! Gemstones are tested with a Presidium gem tester. Mandrels are used for ring sizing. Other testing methods may be noted in the item's listing.
RESEARCH: We strongly dislike knock-offs and cheap reproductions. Each of our offerings is meticulously researched, compared to known originals, and independently appraised to insure that you are getting a genuine vintage or antique jewelry item. You won't find fake Hermés or Coach, “Fakelite” bakelite items, or brand-new “Delizza & Elster” knockoffs here.
APPRAISALS: Waxia Road Vintage's established business policy is to have our fine jewelry items and high-end designer items physically brought to a certified jeweler to verify authenticity, grade, quality, and value. These business-related appraisals insure that the customer receives a very good deal for the price paid, as we charge BELOW what the jeweler says is the monetary value of the piece. During this appraisal process, gemstone setting prongs are inspected and tightened as necessary, clasps are checked and tested, and any imperfections are repaired to insure that the item is in tip-top shape at the time of sale.
CERTIFIED PRINTED APPRAISALS: The acquiring of a certified printed appraisal is the sole responsibility of the buyer after receipt of item, as Waxia Road Vintage DOES NOT provide certified printed appraisals. Certified printed appraisals, which are used for insurance purposes to certify how much an item would cost to replace in the event of loss (indemnity), are available from any certified jeweler or certified appraiser for $75 or more per piece (A good jeweler or appraiser will offer a discount or package deal when you bring in quite a few items at once for appraisal). PLEASE NOTE: Certified printed appraisals should be acquired on all fine jewelry items every 2-3 years, or a month or two previous to property/homeowner insurance policy renewal, to compensate for market fluctuations in precious metal and gemstone values.
PACKAGING: Items are well-wrapped to insure that your purchase arrives at your home in impeccable condition. Unless otherwise noted in the listing itself, items are store placed in a gift box and padded with cotton batting and tissue paper to minimize shifting. We consider the cost of packaging materials to be part of our ordinary business expenses. (Translation: you don't pay for materials used to ship your items, and you get a free, unmarked, cardboard presentation box that can be repurposed as a gift box for someone else. Hooray!)
SHIPPING LOCATIONS: We ship to every corner of the world, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.
CUSTOMS CHARGES FOR ORDERS DELIVERED OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES: If you are ordering from a country other than the United States, please be aware that your country may require you to pay a customs charge on your ordered item(s) when the package enters your country, and that you, the buyer, are responsible for all customs charges, taxes, tariffs, etc., related to purchase. Different countries have different customs charges (usually a percentage of the total value of the item), so please check with your postal service to determine what charges you may incur. Please note that our shipping labels are printed through Etsy, which automatically prints the the customs declaration as “Merchandise”, and this designation cannot be changed by our store.
SHIPPING: It is our strict policy that no profit is made in postage charges. Shipping is combined when multiple items are ordered; any excess shipping amount will be refunded to you via Etsy at the time the shipping label is printed. Unless requested otherwise during checkout, items are shipped standard package shipping through USPS within 24 business hours of cleared payment. Fine jewelry items require a receipt signature for delivery (We pay for this service.). Saturday orders will be shipped the next Monday.
RETURNS: Although most buyers absolutely adore their purchases, there can be circumstances which necessitate an item's return. Returns are subject to certain conditions and exclusions,delineated below. The purchase of fine jewelry or items of value requires a Return Policy, which is set forth below to define Waxia Road Vintage's limits of liability and standard procedures for returns.
Please read the following Policy of Returns carefully:
•By purchasing an item from the online Etsy store of Waxia Road Vintage (henceforth known as WRV), you automatically certify that you have read the purchase agreement of this store in its entirety, and you agree to abide by the terms and conditions set forth in such, including our Return Policy.
•Returns are taken, as long as WRV is notified via writing – expressly through email or through Etsy's messaging service – of the intent to return within 15 days of purchase, and as long as the item is received by WRV within 30 days of purchase. If written intent to return is expressed more than 15 days after purchase, and/or if the item is received by our office after more than 30 days post-purchase, the item will not be eligible for refund.
•We do not provide a refund if the item is not physically returned, in original condition, to our office at 4733 Floynell Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
•The ORIGINAL item MUST be returned in its original condition, in its original packaging (so don't throw that envelope away just yet), and at the cost of the buyer.
•We do not warranty against damage that results from the item being abused, damaged, destroyed and/or altered in any way (including non-professional attempts at repair) by the buyer. Included in this disclaimer is damage to an item resulting from improper cleaning, such as submerging rhinestones in any type of liquid including water, placing gemstone jewelry in an ultrasonic cleaning device, cleaning item with chemicals that result in damage or stains to the item, or surface finish damage (scratches, gauges, plating damage/removal, and/or finish wear/removal due to buyer wear) resulting from cleaning items with abrasive cleaners and/or abrasive bristles. Please note that “switching”, or purchasing an item and replacing it with another item or an identical, fake/cheaper version that is then returned to our store, will void any and all refunds, and may also result in legal and/or civil actions as allowed by governing laws in applicable jurisdictions.
•Stones/rhinestones damaged through chipping, cracking, breaking, falling out of their setting, and/or otherwise sustaining damage as a result of regular or extraordinary use, are not eligible for return. Fine jewelry items cannot withstand blows, strikes, “dinging”, “catching” on strings or other objects, and/or heavy usage such as can occur during working, manual labor, exercising, and/or activities of daily living. Please make sure you understand what wearing environments your fine jewelry item can or cannot physically withstand, and use reasonable caution to protect your investment.
•All stones or rhinestones must be present, with no evidence of tampering to stone prongs or the stones themselves, and with no evidence that the stones have been intentionally removed and/or replaced by cheaper and/or imitation stones.
•If a stone has fallen out, please include the dislodged stone with the item. The return of a jewelry item with one or more missing and unreturned stone(s) will result in the return being prorated and limited to the cost of the setting and remaining stones ONLY.
•All chains, links, connectors, mechanisms, and components must be in original condition & show no evidence of breakage, fracturing, stretching, bending, tampering, scratching due to inappropriate tool usage on item, and/or evidence of unskilled repair (such as buyer using a screwdriver to tighten a mechanism's screw and scratching the screw or the piece itself in the process). The presence of such evidence will void the return completely.
•Once the returned item is received at our shop and inspected, a refund (excluding return shipping and customs charges, which are nonrefundable) will be issued within 48 hours and sent through Etsy to the financial institution used for item purchase.
•If item is deemed ineligible for return by any of the above-listed reasons, the item will be returned to the buyer at the cost of WRV, utilizing the USPS 1st class standard package rate, and using fresh packing materials and new envelope.
