Vintage 1920s Young Girl's store Ivory Sheer Cotton Pintucked and Irish Lace Inset Dress

store Vintage late 1910s to early 1920s young girl's sheer cotton ivory pintucked and Irish lace inset dress. The dress is loose fitting and features a high squared neck with heavy Irish lace insets around the collar, vertically down the front and back and on the cuffs of the sleeves. The entire dress also feature triple rows of delicate pin tucks. The front of the dress buttons up the side and up the collar with 5 hidden small round mother of pearl buttons and small threaded loops.

This dress along with several other high end pieces of antique children's and women's clothing came from a Newport, Rhode Island estate known as the Harold Brown Villa located at 459 Bellevue Avenue. This gilded age mansion was built in 1895 for Harold Brown and later sold to his niece, Eileen Gillespie Slocum in the mid 1950s who lived there for the rest of her life. As her family were members of the wealthiest American families their clothing would have been some of the finest available.

This dress has been thoroughly cleaned by hand washing it and soaking it overnight in a laundry detergent specially formulated for antique textiles. In very good condition with no spots or stains. There is a small hole in the back center of the dress, there is a repair made to the inside of the hem in the back. The fabric is quite sheer and delicate.
