This shirt celebrates the feminist artist space the Women's Interart Center, which was first established in 1970. The Interart Center used to reside at 549 W. 52nd Street in New York City and it was used primarily as a gallery space for women artists. The Interart Center was established with the help of the artist collective Women Artists in Revolution, and annual funding from the New York State Council on the Arts. Over the years, they hosted a variety of exhibitions and events including theatrical performances, poetry readings, film screenings, and lectures which all showcased women in the arts.
