Each of these rubbings measures approximately 12 by 25 inches. They will be made with gold or silver heelball on black paper produced specifically for brass rubbing. Your rubbing will arrive ready for mounting and framing

Henry's and Margery's brasses are located in Hildersham, Cambridgeshire, Great Britain.

Not much is know about the couple. Sir Henry did not hold any local office. He is standing on a lion and wears plate armor from which the mail elements, still visible on brasses at the turn of the fourteenth century, have been eliminated. The pauldrons or shoulder pieces were made of laminated plates sliding under each other on rivets with circular besagews to protect the armpits. The store breast and backplates are continued by a skirt of lames of steel laminated and fixed to a leather skirt.

His wife Margery wears a gown with long sleeves, sleeved kirtle and a mantle clasped.

Brass rubbings are done by stretching a linen rag paper over the deeply etched monumental brass that is usually found at the gravesite. After securing the paper, heelball (a very hard wax) is rubbed vigorously over the paper surface to get an exact copy of the brass plate. A single rubbing can take from 2 hours to 2 days to complete depending in it's size, condition, and complexity.
