Ceramic apostrophe statement store earrings

Beads of white clay were bisque fired, then dipped in my most favourite glaze ever- matte copper that dances with all kinds of glorious prismy streaks when it has undergone the awesome raku process. That involves pulling the beads out of the oven when they reach 950 degrees celsius and are glowing orange. I then oh so gently pull them out of the oven and plop them into a metal container filled with sawdust and paper and dried leaves. The fire and smoke works its magic and creates all sorts of fun lines and cracks and a variety of hues. The beads hang from 925 hoops and handmade earring hooks that have been dressed up with spheres of blue iron pyrite.

These earrings are 8 cm long and 3 cm wide and each weigh in at 8 grams, so they are a teensy bit heavier than some of my other earrings, but still a comfortable wear.

*These are a pretty sturdy pair of earrings, but the beads are made of ceramic, so if you drop them onto a concrete or tiled floor, or toss them into a deep pocket in your purse and forget about them, or throw them down dramatically during a passionate debate, the earrings could damage or break. Also, with these raku-fired earrings, you probably don't want to wear them in the shower or swimming pool, or accidentally leave them in the pockets of your jeans swooshing around in the washing machine. Just sayin'. (Please feel free to contact me if you do indeed accidentally break them, and I will give you some tricks to help you fix them and get them looking as good as new!)
