They are part of the ceramic Krølle Bølle family of four (father, mother, boy and girl), designed in 1960's by Marianne Starck for Michael Andersen & Son. The Krølle-Bølle are the national trolls of the island of Bornholm. They were created by Ludvig Mahler, who drew and wrote the story of the Krølle-Bølle family in 1945 for his son, Ole.
