Here is a beautiful black shino glazed textured stoneware tea bowl. This tea bowl has subtle satin matte glaze with areas that are glossy from the wood ashing melting into the glaze. This tea bowl has an organic gesture feel, and still cradles well in the hand. This is tea bowl measures 4 1/2" ( 11.5 cm.) across the top, 3" (7.6 cm) high, and the foot is 2 3/4" (7 cm) in diameter. This bowl was fired to cone 10 in a wood kiln and is food and top rack dishwasher safe. The glaze and clay body contains iron store, so the tea bowl will become very hot in a microwave.
This chawan was fired in an anagama kiln with pine for 30 hours. This piece was placed in the front part of the kiln.
